  1.      Attendance/Arrival in the classroom:

           - Attendance is vital to the success of your child.  If your child must be absent, he/she is required to bring a written excuse (if you can call school ahead of time, it would help out immensely).

-Students may wait on the first floor by the main door or go to breakfast.  They will be released to go to their classroom at 9:00 am. when the school bell rings.

All students coming after 9:15 will be sent to the office for the late slip.

 2.     Communication:

Your child will bring home a blue folder with homework, newsletters,

and other information.  Newsletters will be sent on Mondays and be posted weekly on the web   site.

You can contact me best me by email at may.nhia.ly@spps.org or by phone at extension 2111.

 3.     Early Release/Change in transportation:

If for some reasons you are picking up your child early you must go to the office, and the secretary will inform the teacher.  If you are picking up your child, who normally rides the bus, please send a note informing me of this change.  All transportation changes must be indicated in writing.  Please note that children may not take the bus home with a friend (even with a note).  Bus drivers only accept children on their bus list.

4.   Bus and Patrol Lines:

Safety on the bus/patrol lines is becoming a bigger community issue every day. We will be discussing the rules in class during the first month and throughout the year. Please reinforce the importance of following school bus rules. Parents are notified of incident reports (pink slips) given to the school from the bus drivers.

PLEASE, do NOT park on Bush Avenue.

5.        Parent pick-up:

  • Children must sit down until their parents/guardians arrive.
  • Parents/guardians must pick-up their child(ren) and leave the gymnasium ASAP.
  • If parents/guardians want to socialize or talk to one another, please feel free to use the school’s lobby.
  • Do not block other cars in the parking lot or park in assigned spots.

·         School is done at 3:40 pm!  Please be on time!

    7.        Gym shoes:

Athletic shoes are necessary in Physical Education for your child’s safety.  They will not be allowed  to participate in P. E. classes if they do not have appropriate shoes. Students may leave their gym shoes at school even on non-P.E. days.

8.        Breakfast & lunch:

Breakfast is available at school from 8:45-9:15.  Your child will be marked tardy if they are not in the room by 9:20.  Each child will be assigned a personal identification number (PIN) to put into the computer each time they eat.  Free and reduced lunch forms are available if needed.  Checks should be made out to St. Paul Schools Food Service, and you may send in money or checks daily, weekly, or monthly.  Please, put money in an envelope and label it with your child’s first and last name.  If you write a check, be sure to put your child’s PIN number on it.

9.        Items That Must Stay at Home:

Toys distract students from learning and are often taken or misplaced.  Please keep these things at home: gum, toys of any kind (toy guns, cards, action figures, video games, etc.), money, weapons, perfume, make-up, or fancy jewelry
