Born in Laos, Mlle Ly is a native speaker of Hmong. She was then immersed in French after moving to France at the age of 3. She began studying English in Junior High and moved to California at age of 17. It was there that she received her BA in French and in bilingual education. Mlle Ly is entering her 5th year of teaching at SPFI. Her goal is to prepare the students for the MAT7 tests and she envisions her students speaking French to one another and giving them opportunities to be exposed to French Speaking cultures.
