FIELD TRIP TO MILL CITY MUSEUM We will be going to the Mill City Museum on December 10th from 9:15-2:00. Students will order bag lunches or bring their own lunch this day. The cost of the bus and the museum is $9. Please be sure to send the money or a check (payable to LNFI) in an envelope marked with your child's name and "field trip." I still need at least 3 more chaperones so please consider going with us.
CHILDREN'S DENTAL SERVICES We are happy to announce a new
service for our students and families at LNFI. Starting this month,
Children’s Dental Services(CDS) will set up a clinic at school
depending on the number of people who sign up. Children’s Dental
Services (CDS) is an independent, non-profit agency that has provided
dental services to low-income youth since 1919. CDS goals include: a)
to provide affordable, accessible dental care to low-income children
and pregnant women; b) to provide culturally focused care that meets
the diverse needs of those it serves; c) to provide education,
prevention and direct clinical services; and d) to engage with a
variety of community groups, governmental agencies, private and
non-profit organizations to further the importance of oral health and
availability of dental care for low-income individuals and families.
Although it is targeted for low-income families, mid to high income
families may also qualify! Please watch your child’s backpack for more
information about this wonderful too-good to be true service! PARKING Please
remember NOT
to park on Bush Avenue when coming to school as this is reserved for buses
and people who live in the neighborhood. We would encourage you to use the parking lots during the school day. If you are picking up your child, be sure to observe the no parking signs and NEVER WALK BETWEEN BUSES. Interested in carpooling to or from school? One parent is interested
in trying to match up carpoolers. If you can be a carpooler, email

RECESS We will go outside for recess every day except for when it rains or the temperature is below 0º F. Please be sure your child has appropriate wear for the weather. At this time, a sweatshirt, sweater or fall jacket is fine. Once there is snow on the ground, all children will be required to have coat, a hat or hood, mittens or gloves, snowpants, and boots in order to play. There is no indoor supervision, so students who do not have these items will still go outside but cannot play. If there is a problem getting these items, please let me know as there are some resources available. Boots must be meant for outdoor wear (not fashion boots) and must be removed before coming into the classroom. Please be sure your child has shoes either in the classroom or that are brought to school daily. SNOWBOOTS MAY NOT BE WORN IN CLASS.

SNACKS
Here are some suggestions for healthy snacks:
Goldfish crackers, pretzels, graham crackers, Cheezits, many
other kinds of snack crackers, cereal (low-sugar or unsweetened is best),
mini-bagels with cream cheese (a favorite of last year’s class),bread and
spreadable cheese, peanut butter, or jam, baby carrots (another hit from last
year’s class but with dip), apples, pears (I have an apple slicer that works well
for these), grapes, Mandarins or other easy to peel citrus, bananas, apple
sauce, yogurt (I don’t mind serving from large containers but we’d need 2
containers and spoons), Gogurt (even better), string cheese, pudding, and there
are many other possibilities.
PLEASE AVOID CANDY, DOUGHNUTS, CAKE, COOKIES, AND CHIPS.
