Homework
MATH:
4th graders have math homework, on average, four nights per week. They usually come home with one piece of math homework, in English, called Study Link. It is always due the following day. I collect it, check to make sure it is complete and verify potential areas for re-teaching. I then make a record of assignments turned in/missing/late.  It is always due the following day, unless otherwise noted.

ENGLISH:
English homework is generally twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is to be returned the following day.

READING:
It is expected that the students read a minimum of 20 minutes each evening, in either language. We also do independent reading in class, during which time they do some responding to what they read, as well as keep track of their books on their "25 Book List."  This list stays in school, however they should record on this list any books read at home.  I also do individual reading conferences at this time.

WRITING:
*Currently the students are writing in their Writer's Notebooks in class, though with time they will begin to bring them home as well.  They also do a fair amount of writing during Reader's Workshop with response to literature.

*There are times when other subjects may also require homework, and these are noted in the students' daily planners, which they are to bring home each day.

DAILY PLANNERS:
*Each day the students record in their planners a few things that we did during the day.  It is also a place to record their homework and any upcoming events.  Each planner costs $7.00.  A check can be made out to LNFI.  Cash is also acceptable.
