Spring Conferences:
Please remember to turn in your conference confirmation for spring conferences. Please verify your scheduled conference time and return the bottom portion to school by the end of the week.

Springtime Weather:
Please continue to bring winter clothes until the weather becomes nicer. The most important outside clothing during the spring are BOOTS! This helps eliminate mud in the classroom. Thank you!

Social Studies Homework:
Homework #2: Create a Map – Please look for the mapping homework to come home on Friday this week. It is DUE ON MONDAY, March 22nd.  Thank you for your help to complete this mapping assignment on time before break.

After College I will... "The Dream Out Loud Challenge":

Since completing our poetry unit, I talked to the first graders about this really amazing contest that they could enter. Minnesota students, grades K-6 could win $2,500 towards college and $1,000 for their school. This challenge is a drawing, essay, poetry, and video contest for all students. They must respond the the following question: How will I change the world after I go to college? Entries must be submitted by April 12, 2010. For more information, please go to www.dreamoutloudmn.com

Parent Presentations: Who's who in our community?

Thank you for all the parents who volunteered to share about their work in the community. We have learned so much about different jobs, tools, and special talents of community workers we depend upon.

Food Allergies and Snack:
FYI: Please do NOT buy any snacks that contains peanuts or were possibly made on a machine that made a product containing peanuts to help create a safe classroom environment for our students with peanut allergies. Here are some suggestions: veggies with dip, fruits (pre-cut), certain cereals or crackers, etc. Thank you!

Snack Schedule:
(Bring for 25 children)
Each week I will assign some students to bring in a store-bought snack to share with the whole class. Healthy items are encouraged, such as crackers, fruit, granola bars, cereal, and carrots. Please try to have your child bring in the snack on Monday of his/her assigned week. Merci!

Parking:
Please remember NOT to park on Bush Avenue when coming to school as this is reserved only for buses and people who live in the neighborhood. Parent pick-up will be on Clarence Avenue.

Receiving On-line Newsletters:

I have attached a word document that shows the list of student families who wish to receive the weekly newsletter from the classroom website. All families are welcomed to join or be removed throughout the school year.

Communication Folders:
Please remember to check your child’s blue communication folder (Chemise de communication) each day, and have them return it to school the next morning. Please place notes to me and lunch money in this folder.

School Store Now Open:
Our school store, “Le Loup”, named after the school mascot, will once again open its doors on Friday, November 7. "Le Loup” was created a few years ago and has been very successful since then. It is sponsored and run by the Student Council. All profits from the sale benefit the students.    At the “ Loup”, children have not only the opportunity to purchase school items such as pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, note books, and the like, but they also learn about money and use their French as every transaction takes place in French.   If you’d like your child to purchase something, please send him or her with money on Friday. The best is to put the money in a purse or envelope labeled with your child’s name. I will have a place where your child can store their money until they go to the store. Here is this year's schedule of when we will be going to The Loup.
