Hello, my name is Sabrina Verbèke and I am the 6th Grade teacher this year. I was born in Rouen, Normandie, in France. As a child, I had the chance to move to Djeddha, (Saudi Arabia) for about five years. Over there, I enjoyed snorkeling in the Red Sea, going on field trips in the desert to visit the Bedouins, and listening to different languages. Then I moved back to Normandie for a couple of years before settling down in Maisons-Laffitte, close to Paris and Versailles. I earned a B.A. in English literature and civilizations from the university of Nanterre-Paris X. Then, after my internship at the University of Chicago in the French Department, I earned my Master in French Language Education. My first teaching job was a one-year position as a Language Associate at Carleton College. I loved Minnesota so much that I decided to come back as an Intern at l’Etoile du Nord in 2003-2004. There I really discovered the immersion education system and a great team of dedicated educators, so I decided to enroll in Hamline’s Licensure program in order to be able to join the club. I hold a K-12 French license and a K-8 elementary education license and I am very proud to be part of LNFI. I am teaching 6th grade for the second time and I am looking forward to an exciting year in a new room and with my new students.
